- any pain that comes in waves
- usually for organs with lumens and have peristaltic movement
Biliary colic*
- right upper quadrant pain, right flank pain, or even mid chest pain with cholelithiasis
- pain is steady, starts rapidly and lasts at least 30 minutes
- associated with irritation of the viscera secondary.
Renal colic*
- pain commonly caused by kidney stones.
- radiates through the flank until it reaches the bladder
- remain constant
*are not colicky pain, different things
